Brevard Rock Gym Mountain Guides is “THE” family friendly WNC rock climbing guide service. We provide professional guided trips to meet each individual
clients needs. Our experienced rock climbing guides lead top roping trips for families, multi-pitch climbs for the adventurous, and private instruction on building anchors, lead climbing and more. OUR GUIDES: BRG Mountain Guides head guides have a minimum certification with the American Mountain Guide Association of Single Pitch Instructor or higher. All of our guides have years of experience climbing and guiding in North Carolina and various parts of the country. BRG’s guides can guide you up your first 5.5 or your first multi-pitch 5.12. ROCK CLIMBING GUIDING
Top Roping- A day of top roping is a great trip for families and individuals who have limited climbing experience, or for experienced climbers who want to try harder routes with the help of a guide. Top Roping trips can meet all ability levels from 5.4 (beginner) to 5.12 (advanced)
- - 1 Climber- $180
- - 2 to 5 Additional Climbers- $45 ea.
Rapelling- This is a half day trip for people who enjoy getting down the rock more than climbing up it. A great trip for a individuals or families looking to go rappelling in NC. You get a chance to be in the vertical world of Pisgah Forest, without the snug fitting climbing shoes.
- - 1 Rappeller- $120
- - 2 to 5 Additional Rappeller’s- $45
Group Rock Climbing Trips- In years past we have worked with a variety of groups from cross country teams, weight loss camps, boy scouts, local camps, corporate groups, small businesses teams, adventure camps, and more. We are confident that our professional climbing guides can accommodate and develop a trip for your group’s needs. Whether it’s team building, developing climbing skills, or just having a good time with people you enjoy. Multi-Pitch- Multi-pitch climbing takes the climber(s) 200 or more feet off the ground. This is a great trip for intermediate to advanced climbers and those with adventurous spirits. (See “What is Multi-Pitch Climbing” to get a better grasp of what multi-pitch climbing is all about.)

Aid Climbing- A great way to experience some of the incredible aid routes North Carolina has to offer. Looking Glass Rock’s, North Side, sometimes referred to as the Yosemite of the South, is home to world class aid climbing. With our guides you can jug, haul, clean, and see some of the best views in North Carolina.

ROCK CLIMBING INSTRUCTION
Anchors- Our anchors classes help climbers who want to take their understanding of rock climbing to the next level. The anchors course teaches clients how to place passive and active gear (see our Glossary of Terms) and build natural and gear anchors for top-roping, multi-pitch climbing and rappelling.
- - $200 per climber
Top Rope Set-up- BRG’s Top Rope Set-Up course teaches the client about the parts of the top roping system discussing basic gear, anchors and more. Taking the Anchors course prior to taking the Top Rope Set-Up course is recommended but not required, pending prior experience.

Lead Climbing-Our Lead Climbing course is a 2 day class that takes experienced top rope climbers to the next level by teaching the basics traditional leading. The course builds on material from the “Anchors” course along with teaching other topics such as gear, decreasing rope drag, protecting the second, and more. At the end of the course you will receive an evaluation form your instructor with feedback on areas of improvement and the recommended next step to advance your climbing.

Rock Climbing 101- This class delves deeper into climbing than a standard rock climbing guided trip. Climbing 101 covers basic gear, movement over rock, types of climbing, judgement and decision making as it refers to rock climbing, and some basic climbing systems. At the end of this class our professional climbing guides can help you determine the next move in your continued climbing education. This is a 1 day course.

- - $75 for each additional climber up to 4 (applies if booked privately vs. signing up for an already scheduled class)
Aid Climbing 101-Aid Climbing is a mixture of organization, systems, technique and expeirence. In our Aid Climbing 101 course we cover all these items and more. We cover what gear to carry, how to organize it, efficient ways to ascend rope, using hooks, cams and stoppers, and more. This class is rooted in clean aid climbing is a great place to start for trad and sport climbers looking to learn more about aiding. This is a 2 day course.

Movement Over Rock-This course uses the unique balance and footwork requirements NC rock climbing to teach you how to move more efficiently and gracefully over rock. Through experiential instruction our veteran rock climbing guides will help you hone in on how to shift your weight, execute specific moves to increase reach, decrease strength required and make what may normally seem like awkward or impossible moves.
