Today was a much needed rest day of pancakes, bowling and a movie. Yesterday Peter, Marcus and I,Jeremy, did Frogland (5.8/6 pitches/780′). A route that should have taken three hours took , six, shaded, windy hours, due to a party of two in front of us. It was a classic hurry up and wait scenario on a classic 3 star route.

Sean and Mark did Bourbon Street (5.8+/6 pitches/ 800′). It actually started to the immediate left of Frogland, crossed over us at the top of the first pitch and then climbed to our right the remainder of the climb. Both teams literally topped out at the exact same time. Mark and I were climbing side by side on the last 70 feet of the tower, that was said to be run out slab climbing…they obviously don’t know what NC run out slab climbing is here in NV. It was low angle climbing with jugs.

Tomorrow Pete and I head for one of our main objectives of the trip, Cloud Tower (5.11d/7 pitches/800′). So far all of my training has paid off in terms of climbing and daily endurance. A big thanks to John at Crossfit Brevard for helping me prep for this trip. His early morning motivation and workouts have given me huge gains in my overall fitness this year.  Many of the approaches here range from 1 to 3 hours, vs. our normal NC 30 mins or less to to the Glass. Tomorrow will serve as the true test of combing daily endurance and hard climbing endurance. The crux pitch is 11d, two pitches of 5.8 and the rest of the pitches are 10’s or 11’s. Packs are packed and alarms are set for 4:30pm tomorrow morning!  The weather is looking ideal, but you can never be too sure as we found out Thursday when the wind kept us from climbing Levitation 29. Stay tuned for the update tomorrow night on whether or not we send…
